Does your sky box still work without subscription
When you cancel your subscription your Sky+ box will still work and using your now deactivated viewing card you will still be able to receive a handful of unencrypted free-to-view (FTV) channels, including BBC1, 2, ITV1, C4 and C5.
Can I use my old sky box for Freesat
Can I use my Sky box (or another receiver) to get Freesat? If you have a Sky box and dish, you’ll be able to receive around 200 free-to-air channels without a subscription. Most of the channels on Sky’s Freesat service are the same as those on the BBC/ITV Freesat service, but not all of them.
Can you copy recordings from a sky box
You can copy content from a Sky+ box onto DVD by connecting the output of the Sky+HD box to a stand-alone DVD recorder. Connect a SCART lead from the Sky+HD box to a spare SCART socket on a DVD recorder. Set the DVD recorder to the Line In feed (labelled AV, Line or Aux) Insert a formatted blank DVD into the recorder.

If you’re not happy with the price hike, you may be able to exit your contract with Sky penalty-free. If you’re still within your minimum term for a Sky broadband or phone contract and are affected by these price increases, you CAN cancel it without paying an early termination charge.
Can I use my old satellite dish as an antenna
A: Unfortunately, no. The satellite dish is not the correct shape, and has special electronics that make it not usable for receiving free broadcast TV. However, you can still use the coax cabling from the dish to your TV if you want to install a broadcast TV antenna where your dish was.
Can I use my Sky card in another box
Your Sky viewing card is linked to your account and allows your Sky box to access your subscription channels. To use your viewing card, it must be activated and paired with your Sky box, even if it’s an old card you previously used for another box.
What’s the difference between Freesat and Freeview
Freeview and Freesat users both get access to a digital TV service without paying a monthly fee or signing up to a contract. The difference is in the delivery: Freeview: delivered through an aerial and a set top box. Freesat: delivered through a minidish and a set top box.
Can I keep my old Sky Box with Sky Q
Your engineer will be able to provide a spare viewing card and/or Sky Q Hub during the TV install if necessary. Unless it’s Buy & Keep, you won’t be able to transfer the recordings on your Sky+ box to your Sky Q box. Make a note of your series links so that you can set them up on your new Sky Q box.
What can I do with old sky box
Your old Sky box will still work as a Freesat from Sky box to receive free channels on it, but you won’t be able to pause, record or watch any old recordings on the box anymore. Alternately you can give it to friends or family who want a Freesat box, or sell it on eBay (don’t expect to get much for it).
